Hiring Growing Good Summer Educators

Position Summary

The Growing Good Nature-based Educator will work with REP staff members and partners to lead and support the Growing Good program at the Foodlink Edible Education Center, five days a week for the duration of the 7-week program and additional training and evaluation days. An essential responsibility will be ensuring the safety and welfare of children in the program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

• lead activities for a group of 12 children from 9-3 Monday through Friday
• ensure the safety of youth participants
• work with staff to plan, organize, and facilitate activities
• lead and support nature-based learning activities for 6-12 year olds
• create an environment of joy and excitement about nature-based learning
• assist in the management of materials
• participation in training programs

Desired Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

The following qualifications are desired but optional. The position will be filled by someone who is the best fit for the position. 

• experience working with youth in outdoor settings
• environmental education training
• ability to manage a variety of tasks
• flexibility and creativity when faced with challenges
• the ability to work collaboratively in person and digitally with members of a team
• cultural competence and the ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences 

Work Environment / Expectations

• Occasional meetings and trainings between June 1 – June 30, 2026

• Approximately 40 hours per week from June 30 – August 21, 2026

• Outdoors almost all of the time

Compensation

• $19.00 – $20.00/ hr
