We are excited to announce that Rochester Ecology Partners has been awarded a generous grant of $5,000.00 from M&T Bank Charitable Foundation! This funding will allow us to provide more opportunities to schools within our WildWonder school-based nature-based learning with schools. The M&T Charitable Foundation focuses on partnering with communities to impact equitable change. Their support will help us achieve our mission to help all people find nature where they live, work, and play.
Funding from M&T Bank Charitable Foundation will help us engage young people in our region in WildWonder lessons that meld playful experiences with academic engagement. We believe – and see – that engaging young people in nature-based learning ultimately leads to happier, healthier, and more successful students who will grow into engaged citizens and environmental stewards. This funding will allow us to expand our partnerships with schools in the Rochester City School District to offer our Nearby Nature lessons, Field Studies, and Stewardship Projects that provide students with engaging, hands-on lessons that connect their classroom concepts to the natural world around them. These lessons and field studies improve students’ social and emotional well-being; connect them to the environment in ways that build their relationship with the natural world, themselves, and their community; and build their capacity for critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ultimately nature-based learning leads to improved career opportunities, citizens who are prepared to create a just and sustainable future, and healthier lives for all.
