Rochester Ecology Partners is seeking Assistant Educators for our Neighborhood Nature Enrichment program on Wednesdays from 12:15 to 3:15 at Genesee Community Charter School’s 2 campuses. We are looking to hire 2 individuals that are enthusiastic about engaging young children in nature based learning.

Position Summary
The Assistant Educator is primarily responsible for supporting the Neighborhood Nature freetime program. The Neighborhood Nature program operates at our partner sites – Genesee Community Charter School and the program assistant will lead activities for youth 6-10 years old in collaboration with a team of educators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- work shifts weekly between September 13, 2023 and July 1, 2024
- ensure the safety of youth participants
- work with the Neighborhood Nature Program Manager to organize and facilitate activities
- lead 6-10 year olds in nature based learning activities
- create an environment of joy and excitement about nature based learning
- assist in the management of materials
Desired Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
The following qualifications are desired but not required. The position will be filled by someone who is the best fit for the position.
- experience working with youth in an outdoor or camp setting
- environmental education training
- ability to manage a variety of tasks
- flexibility and creativity when faced with challenges
- the ability to work collaboratively in person and digitally with members of a team
- cultural competence and the ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences
Work Environment / Expectations
- 3 hours a week from 12:15 – 3:15 on Wednesdays / Program runs from 12:45 – 2:45
- Staff meetings as needed
- In person at Genesee Community Charter School
- Outdoors most of the time
- New Hires are expected to undergo a background check
Compensation
$16.00 / hr
